Digital Home Recording?

I have a new computer w/ 160 gig hardrive
I have an old tascam 4-track with worn out cassette drive.
I have a digital effects processor
I have a drum machine
I have a digital keyboard
I have a guitars and basses
I have mike/cables/stands
What would be the best way to enter into the world of digital recording. What software? What hardware? I’m thinking along the lines of home recordings of songs with drum machine drum tracking.
I produced hundreds with the Tascam but the tape unit is worn out and replacement parts unavailable. I would put my budget at $500.
Thanks!
Good Home Studio Vocal Recording with PC?

What do I need to do such thing? I just want to combine my voice with instrumental. As far as I know I need Microphone, Soundcard, and software. Did I miss something? Also it would be great if you can recommend good product for microphone, soundcard and software. My budget for microphone and soundcard would be around $400. Any help would be much appreciate it. Thank you.
What is the easiest and best-priced home recording studio?

I am extremely interested in purchasing home recording studio software, but I’m a bit computer illiterate. I used a prior cakewalk version for a few years and that was easy enough, but my computer crashed and I’m starting all over again. This time, I want to use very simple recording studio software that produces a good sound. I’m also looking into purchasing drums (most likely electric) to use with my studio. If you have any websites that would be useful for either the drums or the recording software, I’d appreciate it. Please let me know if you have any prior use with software which you found was particularly good for home-recording. My budget is, at the most, $1,000. I may also be interested in a beat machine as opposed to drums (as I don’t really know how to play drums).
