Can I install Office in Window vista home basic edition?

home budget software

If someone has tried it, please inform if its possible & hope it won’t create compatibility issues later.
If not, then what should I do to run office in my new laptop having window vista home basic edition. I prefer to get a free office software, as I have already exceeded my budget in buying a new notebook & window softwares.
Thanks.

MS Office will absolutely work on Vista Home Basic..

If you want free alternatives check out for a FREE open source Office suite.

Google also has web based word processing and spreadsheets. There are more, but those are the biggies.

Of course you can. You can install either Microsoft Office 2007 (recommended), or OpenOffice (free of charge) without any compatibility issues.
